Mark Milroy

"Drawing from both imagination and direct observation these drawing began in rural CT and continued to Prospect Park, which is near where I live in Brooklyn NY. The small format 8 x 8” square of colored paper, and the immediacy of the oil pastel, allowed a freedom to explore and experiment; to create a fusion of naturalism, abstraction, looking, remembering and imagining."

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Mark Milroy grew up in St. Thomas, Ontario. He received his M.F.A. from The New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, and his B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
