Jan Green

Jan Green, American landscape painter, was born in Ohio in 1953. She was awarded a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1975. Her powerful, evocative work explores the local landscape as a place of brooding intensity. She says, "I believe that 'landscape' implies a record of place: mental, emotional and physical, and it must do more than hold us briefly".

Green lives in Upstate NY in an early 19th century grist mill. She has had a number of solo shows at ACA Galleries and Littlejohn Contemporary in New York City and her work is in numerous private collections.
